Project brief.
Goal and Objectives
Most habit trackers look identical — blocky cards with checkboxes, resembling email interfaces. I wanted to create something people would actually enjoy opening. The design drew from old textbook line illustrations — nostalgic and charming. But beauty alone wasn't enough. The app needed robust functionality: tracking, journaling, analytics, all in a lightweight, intuitive package. The goal: bridge the gap between the aesthetic appeal of paper planners and the practical necessity of digital tools.
Challenge
Every project has its own keystone. The breakthrough was making animations both beautiful and personal. I used Lottie to bring the line illustrations to life with smooth, Disney-quality motion. But the technical approach was layer control: by structuring After Effects layers correctly, users could customize animation colors for each habit. This combination — delightful movement plus personalization — made the app feel truly alive. The animations weren't static decoration; they responded to user choices and brought personality to every interaction..
